contacts/glasses?

i went for a contact lense appointment thing today, n 2moro im sposed to be goin in to learn how to put them in myself.
but my god, i found it rly rly horrible wen the lady put them in my eye, i couldnt keep my eyes open, lol wen she was tryin to put them in.
i wud rather get a piercing n e day then have them put in my eyes again. it was that bad for me. lol. i have rly sensitive eyes

so…..i was wondering im getting black hair all over with red side fringe kinda, n was wondering wud that like hairstyle look okay with some glasses still. is that ok?? wot kinda glasses shud i go for?? i rly wud prefer contacts but i dnt think im gonna cope with em

jerry answers:

I went through the same thing when I first learned how to put in my contacts. You really have to wash your hands well, so that they don’t burn, and you have to use your fingers to keep your eyes open without touching the eyeball, which causes them to water. It just takes practice–I’ve been wearing contacts for about 2 1/2 years, and only in the past 8 months have I been able to put them in/take them out without the use of a mirror.

The color of your hair shouldn’t matter as to whether or not you look good with glasses. It depends on the haircut. If you’re going with a short, spikey look, I think rectangular plastic frames in either black or brown and a stripe of contrasting color would look awesome. If your hairstyle is longer, I’d suggest more oval plastic frames.

Oh, and if you get contacts, get your glasses updated too. Everyone I know just buys new contacts every year, and so when their eyes get infected they walk around everywhere totally blind. And it isn’t healthy to wear contacts all day.

Although i also find it very hard to buy for my family…

Your dad loves chocolate, Thornton do really nice chocolate gift boxes- you can personnalise messages on them…

Your mum, well if she is anything like my mum then it would be jewellery, bags, shoes, perfume… You also mentioned she needs a new mascara… Thats a good start. Boots have alot of nice gifts-like beauty and food hampers-could also be good for Best friend present.

And you could get your sister a game for her wii?

Richard asks…

a question of soul?

A question of soul

Dose the internal soul govern the self? Or is it independent of the self, lurking in the back ground like the neutral colours of a room, visible but yet unnoticed. The furnishings being the self, the ego, and superego, Is the self in control of its environment, we decide what happens in our life we take in various stimuli from our environment, our brain processes this information and we act accordingly, that is to say that we act in a way that we hold to be the truth. Surly the individual has the final say. A bit like a game of chess, each move we make takes us to another set of variables with different out comes, ultimately with different endings. Sometimes we loose, sometimes we win, but our decisions are always made with in the confines of that chess board. Like life our decisions are always made with in the confines of societal parameters, which is not to be confused with the values of a society for we are all guilty of making decisions that would not conform to societal values and more importantly would not conform to our own health and well being.
Or is it the internal soul that has the ultimate control the last word? Nudging us this direction or that direction, so that we eventually arrive on the path we were meant to be on? Or is this a cop out to justify the questionable decisions that we may have maid in our life? True we did gain experiences, we did learn how to or not to behave. But that dose not help the people we may have hurt on the road to where we are now.

Plato describes the soul, or the inner self if you will, the internal soul as a chariot having three parts, a charioteer who has been dubbed reason and two horses one of which is spirit and the other is appetite to pull this chariot, now the charioteer/reason guides these glorious beasts, spirit and appetite. Well he is supposed to! But this is not always the case, as we shall see. He uses this analogy to describe the internal conflict that we as individuals go through from time to time in our life. We have spirit “the will to achieve” a fine animal mainly good and yields to the charioteer’s commands. The other is bad “the mate of insolence and pride” temptation if you will! And will hardly yield to the charioteer’s commands. It is up to reason “the charioteer” to guide these beasts. For me, when resin the charioteer guides these horses there unstoppable, clear of vision, unwavering to temptation, reaching goals before we could only have dreamt off. But now anything is possible we will cross our own finishing lines in magnificent style. But when he is not in control. We have Appetite “desire” and the mental picture I get of this horse; well he’s a big bastared! Standing twenty hands high, black as night with big hazel piercing eyes. Eyelashes like spikes, his teeth fiercely biting down on the bit, foaming at the mouth with rage. His nostrils flared, He has a look that can cut through you as if you were glass and is a mussel bound animal. Much stronger than his counterpart “spirit” And he will have his way! When this animal gets his own way let me tell you, he brings spirit and reason along for the ride and when this happens “hold on to your arse! Or more appropriately hold on to your horses “I wonder if this is where that saying originated from” You’re going on a whirlwind fast paced journey, and to what end? “Well” appetite will reveal all to reason when he gets there. For he dose not know where he will end up, nor dose he care where he will end up, all that he knows is; he must run in that direction. But where is the commonality sure we can all go through the same hardships at different stages in life but where is the link between all souls? Is this link the road upon which all chariots travel? Are we to believe that our id ego super ego, or if you will reason appetite and spirit, although they are part of us: apart of the decision making process the things people don’t see and sometimes what we don’t see in our self. But are they the complete make up of us, or our parent’s brothers, sisters, friends, or strangers the people we meet casually through life. Are we to believe we are talking to there soul? And all this if you believe that you have a soul and that this soul can live for ever. For me after seeing a corpse void of life I believed! I believed that the essence of this person was not their, and that it was for me that this essence could only be a form of energy, the life force of an individual. And since energy can not be destroyed it must be eternal. If you believe that energy is eternal and can’t be destroyed. That this energy is ones eternal soul. It must mean that every animal and mammal has the same energy and must have a soul.

CH2
For one to look at our internal soul one must look at Humanity and what it is. What defines us as human beings? Is it kindness and compassion, as dictionaries would lead us to believe as the separating factor? (A little too self righteous and glorifying for my liking.) What is it that we have that separates us from our animal neighbours? For this I think we must look at humanity and its virtues because as it is our virtues that make us human. And we must consider our non virtuous side because this also makes us human. When looking at this we can not neglect the point that the soul of both man and animal may be form of energy! And ask the question; is their a separating factor. Are our souls different?
Dose, when ones soul leave the body as a man retain the information gained while in ones body. Dose a dog remain a dog?

As I look at the list below again for the umpteen time. I can’t help and feel that every species on this planet shows one or two virtues and one or two non virtues. Animals have the ability to love to be untrusting, to show courage to cower. In fact some animals show fidelity, Is it possible that all that separates us from the animal kingdom is the fact that we have more virtues than any other species be they animal or mammal on this planet? That as we evolve we gain more of these attributes.

Virtues Non virtues
Love Hate
GentlenessRough
Good faithUntrusting
Generosity Mean
Tolerance Impatience
CourageCoward
Prudence Imprudent
PolitenessRude
Fidelity Unfaithful
Justice Unjust
MercyUnmerciful
Purity Impure
HumourHumourless
Compassion Hate
Gratitude Ungrateful

Highlighted above are some virtues that animals don’t have and for me their socalised virtues, “learned behaviour”; something that is thought in a society. If you noticed that I did not high light justice that’s because once upon a time I was sitting in, one cold rainy dreary night flicking through the telly as you do and came across this wild life program. And would you believe it, a snake ate a leper cub now what has that got to do with justice I here you ask. Well the snake regurgitated the cub hoping the leper would not continue the chase and fled to this hole on a rock face and the mother leper was sitting over the hole waiting to get the snake for a long period of time knowing its cub was dead. So the jury is now out on weather the leper was looking for justice or not. Which brings in to question the other word hate? Did the leper hate the snake?
So out of thirty virtues there are six virtues that we have that animals don’t have.

Lades only… hlep me!?

So lets say you see a guy who looks like a total dork that is very goodie goode. But then you learn he has a tattoo of a cross on his left chest (for his grandma), an eyebrow piercing and two nipple piercings. He listenes to hardcore metal (and stuff like Marilyn Manson), but you’d NEVER know with how he acts…,

First off, what would you think of this guy. Secondly, How can this guy get rid of some of the ambiguity of him being a pushover. How can he get people to see him as a bad boy for good?

Why do i somehow get the feeling that this well-described guy is the asker? =]

Robert asks…

After care for a Vertical Clitoral Hood Piercing?

I just got a VCH two days ago. I haven’t had any problems at all. When I got it pierced the artist didn’t really tell me much about the after care, just wash it 2 times daily, keep it clean and wash my hands. I am really not sure when I can change it. I assume like in a month. I have a loop in it now. I wanted a barbell. Should I go with the curve or straight? What size do I get and length? I am not even sure what it was pierced with. How long should I wait to have sex. How long should I use a condom ( I am married!). When will it start to feel good? Anything I should know? Thanks (please don’t answer if you are not educated on the topic or have one!)

jerry answers:

You should clean it with a sea salt soak. Use 1/4 noniodized sea salt per cup of warm water. If you can, submerge the piercing in this solution. If that’s not an option for whatever reason take a piece of gauze or a clean paper towel, soak it in the solution, swab the piercing, and then hold it against the piercing, like a compress, for about ten minutes. That’s all you need to do.

Don’t change it untill it’s completely healed. If you do you’ll interupt the healing process, and in effect, set back healing, and increase your risk of infection and irritation. Leave it in for a minimun of 3 months. If the piercing doesn’t get red/sore and doesn’t get a discharge anymore, that’s generaly a good indication that it’s healed.

When you do change it, Go with the curved barbell. A straight one will put a lot of pressure on your clit (all the time, not just when you want it) and will get moved around a lot, this can be irritating. As for size, you’ll probably fit into just about and “navel” curved barbell. If they’re too long, you can special order shorter ones from a lot of shops. You’ll need to know the gage though. Your piercer should have told you this. If you can’t find out, you can always have a piercer measure it for you. I wouldn’t go back to the person who pierced you though. S/He doesn’t sound very professional!

You can have sex as soon as it is comfortable for you. Yes you need to use a condom and if he performs oral sex on you you need to use a barrier, like a dental dam or cling wrap. This is because you want to avoid as much foreign bacteria as possible. Both saliva and semen have a fair amount of bacteria in them (saliva especialy). You’ll also want to clean the piercing right after sex.

Every woman reacts differently to this piercing, but if the jewelry is resting against your clit, you should be able to feel the pressure right away. Granted, the pain of the piercing might be overshadowing it right now lol.

Richard asks…

Vertical ****oral hood piercing?

ok so im looking to get a VCH piercing i just want to know a few things.
1)Does it hurt
2)How can i prepare to get it done
3)What to wear
4)Does it feel good when having ***
5)How to look after it
Oh and i don’t want to hear ewww that’s nasty …. don’t get it cause i will still get it :P

jerry answers:

They all hurt, it probably won’t be as bad as you think. All you have to be is clean and wear something thats easy to just slip up or down I would probably suggest a skirt. I think it depends on the person as to how good it feels during sex and you should keep it clean by cleaning it with mild salt water several times a day. Your piercer should tell you of any specifics to look out for and how to clean it afterwards take their advice above mine, they know they’re talking about. Hope this helps.

Paul asks…

Vertical Clit Hood Piercing- will I be able to work in 2 days?!?

I’ve been planning to get one for ages, have done all the necessary research, but what I REALLY want to know is- if I get a piercing done tomorrow morning (Saturday) will I be able to work Monday morning? (3-4 hours of walking- feeding horses etc).
Personal experiences please? (How long until you could walk without looking like an idiot? lol)
Hehe, horses won’t notice but my Auntie who pays me might!!! And no, won’t ride for at least a week.

jerry answers:

Mine was sensitive for the first couple of days while I was sitting, but walking was nevery really a problem.

The first time I went to clean it, I nearly hit the roof – ow! I suggest putting a warm wet cloth, or soaking in a bath before you try that one.

I started to see the potential for fun somewhere towards the end of the first week and by the second was loving it! ;)

One last thing, you might want to have a stash of panty liners handy; you know what fresh piercings are like and it’s the best way to protect both your undies and your new piercing as you can change them frequently.

Thomas asks…

Whats the point of a hood peircing?

I’m talking about vertical hood piercing not clitoral. Is the pain worth it? How much did you all pay for yours?

…and i’m sorry i have to ask :) … while its healing does it hurt to pee?
Does it ever get caught on your jeans? Also how long does it take until its healed enough that you can have sex w/o it hurting?
ALSO… Is it true it will become less stimulating once your body “gets used” to it? Does the effect wear off?

jerry answers:

Naw, the ain wasnt worth it.
It didnt do anything, it was just kinda there.
I paid 80$ for mine.

No, it didnt hurt to pee, your hood isnt near your urethra.

And for me, sex after about 2 weeks was okay, then again, I took super paranoied care of mine.

It never got caught on my jeans- and i dont know if this is just my mind wondering- but I imagine if you didnt trip your pubic hair, THAT could get caught in the peircing.

Mark asks…

Does arousal decrease significantly after removing a VCH piercing?

Since the vertical clitoral hood piercing supposedly increases sexual stimulation, I’d imagine when it’s removed it’s more difficult to become aroused. Is this the case?

Also, for guys, how would you feel if you were going to have sex with a woman only to find out she was pierced down there? Would it alter your opinion of her at all?

jerry answers:

Again, the pleasure will decrease but it won’t be a dramatic decrease– the jewelry rubs against the clitoris and that’s why it can increase a lot of pleasure during foreplay/intercourse. However, as i previously said, once your body gets used to the jewelry, you’ll experience a pleasure decrease and this is when most women begin to stretch their VCH to get that pleasure back.

Again, some guys are attracted to it while others aren’t– just ask the guy you may have in mind for their opinion. But don’t get a piercing for others, get it for yourself.

James asks…

tips for piercing your own lip PLEASE?

i’m piercing my own lip over spring break with a needle that i took off of a regular needle that you give shots with. i haven’t gotten the needle yet, but am gonna have it by spring break.

how do i keep it from being infected and can you gimme some tips on how to not screw it up?lol.

and if you have any tips on dulling the pain, feel free to let me know them.
thanks for the answers. jerks. i’m 14 and can’t get it done professionally. and i’m not askin my mom cuz she’ll say no. i’ll just get my big bro to do it, he’s done all his own piercings except his ears. thanks for the lack of help.

jerry answers:

There are alot of nerves and other things that you can hit while piercing yourself. There may be irreversible side effects. Get it professionally done…or you may regret it.

There are even some places on the body that piercers won’t pierce. I couldn’t find anyone to pierce me where I wanted to (a spot on my hand) because there was a nerve or something in there that could paralyze or kill me if hit. (Thankfully I didn’t hit it when I did it myself!) but it was stupid and I would never do it again.

Paul asks…

Have you ever pierced your own lip?

Yes. I am going to do it, regardless of how many people say, “Might as well just do it with a rusty nail. It’ll get infected anyway!”
or
“Go to a professional!”
Now that we have that out of the way:
I have sterile piercing needles and the stud as well. I mostly need advice on how to clamp my lip so that it goes through perfectly straight.
I’d appreciate it if someone who has already pierced their lip, or someone else’s, would give me advice.

jerry answers:

Did you steralize your equipment in an autoclav? Rubbing alcohol or boiling them isn’t enough of a steralization to kill hepatitis..just so you know, with that said…have a friend help you out. It’s a lot easier to get things straight through someone elses eyes rather than staring at a mirror..good luck

Ken asks…

How to do your own lip piercing?

I want to pierce my bottom lip and I just want to put one ring there. How could I do that?

jerry answers:

You would be best going to a professional, however, if you are completely set on doing it yourself you will absolutely need :
1-a STERILE needle about 1.6mm/14g since you are doing it yourself, a cannula would make things easier and you can remove the needle, but have the plastic casing still there to guide the jewellery through, I’d reccomend Braun or introcan for the needle.
2-STERILE clamps, for holding the skin.
3-skin marker, for marking where you want the piercing
4-STERILE TITANIUM labret stud (at least 1.6/14g and 10mm long) the studs are better for coping with swelling and healing (if they are long enough)
5-latex gloves, so that dirt off your hands doesn’t get in the piercing, these also help give extra grip on jewellery
6-A CLEAN, not just clean but EXTRA CLEAN work space.

Cleanlisness and sterility is key here
you will need to also check for veins/blood vessels in your lip, piercing through one won’t kill you, but, will cause extra blleding and can cause excess swelling.

You *would* be far better off going to a professional, if it’s an issue of money, once you get all the stuff you need (if it’s GOOD quality) you’ll be paying almost the same, if you are too young WAIT, you shouldn’t rush into these decisions, it could just cause you a mass of problems at school or home if you get it and are too young.
Either way you should do as much research as possible, watch videos, read experiences etc. Get a decent knowledge of anatomy as well.

Robert asks…

how dangerous is piercing your own lip?

cause i did try to pierce my lip once and i was against people that was saying ‘oh don’t pierce your own lip because it could get badly infected’ but now i’m having second thoughts and wondering how dangerous it is.Sooooo i just want to know how dangerous and to the people who are just going to call me a dumbass for trying to pierce my own lip, don’t even bother commenting on this -_- all i ask is a simple answer and why or why not it’s so bad not criticism.so anyways yeah…=)

jerry answers:

It is as dangerous as your limits of knowledge and proper equipment make it. If you are well informed on maintaining aseptic technique, possess the necessary equipment, and know the anatomy of the tissues, then it will be less dangerous. If you attempt to do it without that knowledge and equipment, you risk infection, tissue trauma, and excessive bleeding.

William asks…

HOw to pierce your OWN Lip :) ?

jerry answers:

Buy a piercing kit from a piercing site(usualy bout 7-20 bucks),Dont use a saefty pin.

Wash your hands and use gloves.Mark the spot wher you want it.

I advise using clamps. If you dont more than likely it will come out croked which is REALY BAD!

Dont push it through slowley. It will be painful.Just take a deep breath and go for it.
If you used a threaded needle(needle already attached to the piercing)then you dont have to worry about putting the ring/stud in.

Use sea salt solution to clean it.And some light mouthwash to keep the germs out of your mouth.

But if possible go to a pro.

Good luck please be careful.

Thomas asks…

?~?Piercing my own cartilage?~?

I’m 13 and I’m have this guy, who I’m pretty sure likes me, pierce my cartilage. He is going to use a needle. What else does he need, like supplies to make sure it goes all right and to prevent infection? And also, what are some good ways to numb my ear so it doesn’t hurt that much? It would be more helpful if you’ve actually pierced your own ear. And what are good websites to instruct how to do it correctly?
I’m actually trying to plan to pierce this weekend or the next. And just to let you know, the cartilage is the very top of the ear…the thin part.
OH! And can I just use regular earings you can put on the ear lobe or not?

jerry answers:

Don’t let the guy do it. Get it done professionaly. They pierce with a gun or hollow needle which is extremely sharp. You’ll probably be using a regular sewing needle which isn’t as sharp…meaning more pain! Remember, the top of the ear is much harded to pierce than the soft part. You REALLY need that hollow needle. Something tells me you’re not gona take that advice and you’ll have the guy do it anyway. So make sure the needle is strerilized with vodka or something and whipe the area ur gona pierce with the same stuff. Hold an ice cube there for a few minutes to get it a little numb. Good luck. Think it through first.

Mark asks…

What can you tell me about getting my cartilage pierced from your own expierience?!?!?

I’m 14 and I want to get my cartilage pierced but I don’t know if it hurts for me.
~ How much will it hurt with the gun?
How much will it hurt with the needle?
~How long does it hurt with the gun? How long does it hurt with the needle?
~How long does it take to heal with a gun? How long does it take to heal with a needle?
~ Is it the left ear you get it pierced on, for straight girls? Is it the right ear you get it pierced on, for straight girls?

- Please help me out! & Answer all the questions, please!

jerry answers:

With the gun: its quick and pretty painless but you risk shattered cartialge and i just found out aids to because a lot places sont clean the guns the right way
with the needle: a little more painful and waayy safer
healing: takes about six weeks for both
haha do people still do that? I have mine in my right ear most common in right but i have seen it in the left too

Charles asks…

how do u pierce your cartilage?

i want my cartilage pierced but my mom does not know that but im going to try to pierce my own ear with a nettle how do i do it and does it hurt thanks

jerry answers:

It hurts more if you do it yourself. I pierced mine by myself. This is what i did: i got my ear very very very cold with ice. You will need a potato too…. To hold behind the ear for the needle to go through. Use as large of a sewing needle you can find and stick if through very fast. If possible try to have a friend there to hold your ear steady. Actually have a friend do it for you it will be over quicker. It will be bloody but don;t worry. If i were you i’d just wait til your mom lets you or til your 18.

Steven asks…

if you pierce your upper ear (cartilage) will it make you pass out?

my friend told me that if you pierce your upper cartilage its a pressure point and you will pass out. Thats why you need to do it professionaly. WELL dont tell me not to do it, because i pierced my own ears, and my cousin is a tattoo/piercing artist and she told me how to do it.. SO will you pass out?

DONT TELL ME NOT TO!! THAT IS NOT THE QUESTION!!!

jerry answers:

I don’t see how getting it done professionally will avoid hitting a pressure point as opposed to doing it yourself if there even is a pressure point. I’ve never heard of a pressure point there anyway. I think people might have passed out piercing there own cartilage because it is much thicker than your lobes (obvi it’s cartilage) and it’s more traumatic doing it yourself than having someone get it over with for you quick and easy. I have three all done professionally. Howbout you get your cousin to do you a favor and do it for you? Cartilage just sounds like a beast to do to yourself and you don’t want to screw it up. The healing process is painful already even if it is professionally pierced.

Cheers and good luck!

Michael asks…

piercing my cartilage?

so about 2 hours ago i tempted to pierce my cartilage… yeah, didn’t go so well. soon as the pain from shoving the needle threw stopped i tried taking it out so i can insert the earring which didn’t work, it was like stuck so i had to pull my hardest to get it out which hurt like a bittch! so my question is if you pierced your own cartilage how did you replace the needle and put the earring in without it getting stuck ?

jerry answers:

You shouldn’t have done this in the first place love.

Find a professional piercer and get it pierced by them!

It will save a lot of pain & infection from occuring.

Joseph asks…

How can I tell if my nipple piercing will hurt ?

I am going to get both nipples done tonight. How can I tell if my nipple piercing is going to hurt me or not ? Or is there a way I can numb them or something ?

jerry answers:

It wont hurt for more than a few seconds but surely it feels like a tiny spike going through. I know piercers who will numb the area (They do it for people who want their tongue done sometimes). Just know it’ll jack your bill VERY high though and you’re honestly better off just talking yourself through it. I dont recommend pinching yourself because it’ll get irritated and bleed

David asks…

Will nipple piercing effect my ability to work out and run?

I am a guy and planning on getting a nipple piercing in a few weeks.
Will it effect my ability to left weights and run? I exercise daily, how long should I wait for the piercing to heal before returning to these vigorous activities? Will any of them induce migration/rejection? Thanks
typo: lift*

jerry answers:

I think it depends on your pain threshold. I had mine done and they were oh so sensitive for about three to four weeks. I don’t think activity will induce migration/rejection.

James asks…

How long does it take for a nipple piercing to heal?

I’ve had my left nipple pierced for about 5 months now, and once a month at least, on one side it comes up with a small, sore, pus-filled bump.
The piercing moved a little at first, but i’ve been watching it for several months and it hasn’t moved anymore, I don’t think it’s rejecting, but I really would like some idea of whether or not it’s going to heal anytime soon.
Also, would it be wise to wait until this one has fully healed before I get my other nipple pierced?

jerry answers:

Nipple piercings are notorious for “lymphing” you may be mistaking puss for lymph. They can lymph for years but that doesn’t mean they aren’t healed. I’ve had both of my nipples pierced twice, I had to take the first set out. The first time they never healed and I had them done for a year and a half before I took them out. The second time around they were healed in about 8 months.

Are you doing your sea salt soaks? If not, you need to be. If you have no idea what that is, you take sea salt and mix it with warm water. It’s approximately 1/4th teaspoon of salt per cup of water. You want it no saltier than your tears. Put this solution in two cups (I use small plastic ones) and put them on your nipples. Let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Then I always use a wet paper towel to wipe off where the salt water was, then use a q-tip to clean the piercings. It really helps irritation and promotes healing. I did that about 2 times a day for a few weeks then just did it whenever they felt pissed off.

And I would wait until the one you have is a little happier to get the other one done. Also, your jewelry may have something to do with it. If you have something other than a barbell in there (Like a ring), change it to a bar.

Mark asks…

What size should your breast be for a nipple piercing?

I’m 20 and I have small breasts (34 A) and small nipples, I wanted to know how big does your breast and nipple have to be to get a nipple piercing? Majority of the time, my nipples never stick out, should I even get a piercing?

jerry answers:

I know guys with their nipples pierced, so I don’t think size matters.

And you should get what you want! :)

Richard asks…

How do I remove my nipple piercing?

A few years ago I pierced my nipple, and now I would like to have it removed. I have tried myself as I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do it, but obviously I don’t want to damage it, and it feels rather complicated.

The piercing is a straight small bar, and I imagine that I would need to unscrew one of the ends (round balls on each side) to remove it, am I doing things right? How would I figure out which end is the one that unscrews? They both feel rather tight, and I don’t want to force it.

Many thanks for your replies.
I feel it is time for it to go, it kind of freaks me out a bit now, since it got caught in my clothes a couple of times, and I’d rather avoid accidents.

The bar is the same that I had originally when I had it done (4 years ago), never changed it. The piercing healed rather well, but there is a bit of build-up on occasions, although I’ve never had any infections on it (or any othe of my piercings for that matter). However, 2 years ago my body pushed it out a tiny bit, but it wasn’t a problem.

Checking similar questions, one answer suggested moving to smaller bar sizes to let the hole heal gradually and avoid dead skin build-up, is this a good idea, and does it actually work? I am especially interested in hearing from professional piercers.

Thanks!

jerry answers:

Its super easy, and as long as you’ve had it done, it shouldnt hurt a bit!

FIRST- check for “crusties” around the holes (you shouldnt have them after a few years, but just in case)… If they are there get a q-tip with some warm water and gently run it around the holes… This will soften them so you will cause no ripping of the skin when you remove the barbell..

Second- Tighty Righy Lefty Loosey… Grab the bar bell by both balls and twist one in the opposite direction… If one doesnt come loose, try the other.. Its really a trial and error process…even for us professionals because most barbells both balls come off, just one side is generally looser than others…. You wont be forcing it..just persuading it…

Last- once the ball is off, slide it out… Simple.

It could take a while to close completely up so dont worry about the holes still being there…just keep it clean.

Michael asks…

How to convince my mom to let me get a second piercing in my ear?

i really really want a double pierced ear but my mom always says no. how can i convince her?

jerry answers:

Why bother to convince her. Just go and get it if you want to.

David asks…

How long does it take for a SECOND piercing ear lobe to heal?

I had mine pierced for almost 6 months and they are healed but not to the pint where I can start leaving earring out like my first ear love piercings they both were done by a gun and the scar tissue is gone

jerry answers:

I left mine in for about a year. I took them in and out for a couple days at a time. Now I almost never wear earrings in my second piercing but when I want to they are still good (but I’ve had mine for 6 years). I would say a full year to let them completely heal before you keep them out for an extended period of time. Good luck!

Steven asks…

how long does it take for a just pierced ear lobe piercing to close up?

just got my second ear lobe piercing one side was done to near to the other hole. Just wondering how long it would take to close up if i took it out today and got repierced. xx

jerry answers:

I have four piercings on each lobe and they are definatly not even on each side. You don’t really notice it. If that’s your only problem. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ken asks…

How is claire’s (the store) with ear piercing, where should i go and how much would it cost?

i want to get my ears pierced for the second time but would claire’s do it for free?…don’t they have that deal where if you buy a pair of earring, they pierce ears for free.
Is their another better store, one that doesn’t cost too much…
Any info. is appreciated regarding piercing
Thanks in advanced!

jerry answers:

I got my first holes pierced in clairs and i had no problems. They have free piercing if you buy their earrings. My ears didn’t get infected and i got this done like 4 years ago so you’ll be fine!!

If you want to go somewhere else, i got my second holes done at piercing pagona (not because clairs was bad, there just was a lot of people at clairs for some reason that day and i didn’t feel like waiting!) they also have free piercing if you buy their earrings, but their earrings are a little bit more expensive.

Either store is a good choice!!

Charles asks…

Ear piercing – how do I convince my parents to let me get my ear pierced?

Ok, I’m a 15 year old white male, I would like to get my left ear pierced and have a diamond stud in it but i have one problem my parents (both of them) think that boys with pierced ears are stupid – I don’t think this. How can I convince them to let me get my ear pierced. Also its nearing the end of the summer holidays so it wouldn’t have good healing time with school (PE) and all, ideas please. Could I also have some price ideas.
Thanks
And yes piercings are allowed in my school
Also my parents are in their late 40s

jerry answers:

Your parents are right.

Steven asks…

I was a child of the 90′s! Were you? Do you think the 90′s was the best decade to grow up in?

I loved the 90′s! Ok, I was born in 88, but I was still a “child of the 90′s”! I just think the 90′s were cool because it was the end of a millenium and the big finalé of the 20th Century of discovery; invention and modern life as we know it! It was the beginning of computers/Microsoft/Internet, the sort of technology we take for granted today & most of all, it was historical: the end of a millenium of evolution and discovery (electricity; technology; cars; planes; etc.) & the start of a new era and millenium – the 21st Century! Here are the top 5 reasons I’m proud to be a child of the 90′s: (anyone agree?)

1) INTERNET! YAY!!! Internet was invented in 1991 & thanks to Bill Gates/Microsoft & the likes, we’re online right now & will be for yrs to come! Lapotp’s and Computers were officially developing in the 90′s!

2) Film: Jumanji; Schindler’s List; American Beauty (1999); Titanic; Edward Scissorhands; Saving Private Ryan; Ghost; My Left Foot; Pretty Woman; A Few Good Men; Forrest Gump; The Silence Of The Lambs; Basic Instinct; Groundhog Day; The English Patient; Natural Born Killers; Mrs. Doubtfire; Four Weddings and a Funeral; The Fugitive; Pulp Fiction; True Lies; Speed; Independence Day; Liar Liar; The Shawshank Redemption; Leaving Las Vegas; Interview With The Vampire; Braveheart; Tomorrow Never Dies; Mission Impossible; Golden Eye; Trainspotting; Twister; The First Wives Club; A Time To Kill; As Good As It Gets; Hook; Misery; Deep Blue Sea; Men In Black; The Lost World; There’s Something About Mary; Scream; LA Confidential; Ace Ventura; Batman; Elizabath; Armageddon; The Matrix; Shakespeare In Love; Run Lola Run; The Phantom Menace; The Lion King; Eyes Wide Shut; The Sixth Sense; Sleepy Hollow; The Blair Witch Project; The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring; The Mummy & the dawn of CGI & animatronic films such as Babe; Antz; A Bugs Life & of course, Toy Story! The 90′s was the birth of Special Effects as we know them today & stars such as Julia Roberts; Johnny Depp; Leonardo DiCaprio; Reese Witherspoon; Tim Burton; Kate Beckinsale; Cate Blanchett; Catherine Zeta Jones; Pierce Brosnan; Ben Stiller; Jim Carrey; Owen Wilson; Kristin Scott Thomas; Helen Hunt; Hugh Grant; Ewen McGregor; Nicole Kidman; Halle Berry; Neil Jordan; Danny Boyle; Adam Ball; Kate Winslett; Uma Thurman & Will Smith all kick-started their careers in the 90′s – what a decade for Film!!!

3) Music: Tina; Jacko; Céline; Whitney; Bon Jovi; Madonna; U2; Shaniah; Garth; The Stones; Nirvana; Janet; Boys II Men; Annie Lennox; Sting; Pavarotti; Chér; Bryan Adams; Aerosmith; The Prodigy & Prince were all alive & kickin’ during the 90′s, with Kylie; The Spice Girls; Bjork; Justin; Mariah; Alicia; Beyoncé; Westlife; Boyzone; Robbie WIlliams; Take That; Oasis & Alanis Morissette all kicking off their careers! Songs such as Chér’s “Believe”; “My Heart Will Go On” (Céline Dion/Titanic); Madonna’s “Vogue”; “Live & Let Die (Guns N’ Roses); “I Will Always Love You” (Whitney Houston); Elton John’s “Candle In The Wind”; “That’s The Way Love Goes” (Janet Jackson); “Hero” & “One Sweet Day” (Mariah Carey); Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing”; “Simply The Best” (Tina Turner) & Michael Jackson’s “Black Or White” were all anthems of the 90′s too!

5) Historical People & Events: Sydney Olympics (lead-up to it); Harry Potter; Dolly The Sheep; Riverdance; Bill & Hill; Nelson Mandella’s Release; Daeth of Freddie Mercury & Kurt Cobain (R.I.P.); Birth of the DVD; Mobile/Cell Phones; Apollo Space Missions; Death of Princess Diana (R.I.P.); Collapse of the Berlin Wall; Venus & Serena; Pete Samprass; David Beckham; Tim Henman; Birth of “The Sims”; Opening of Disneyland Paris; Michael Jordan; Mount St. Helens; Tiger Woods; Cindy Crawford; Hubble Space Telescope; Reality T.V.; Opening of Channel Tunnel; The Euro; New Year’s Eve 1999 & the most brazen, amazing, thrilling, stupendous & hillarious thing of the 1990′s:………………………………

(Drum Roll)………………………………..

Monica Lewinsky!!!
(I mean, come on – was that huge or WHAT?!?)

So, who agree’s the 90′s KICKED ***???

jerry answers:

I was born april 8th 1989. I agree, being a 90s child was the best. I see so many kids today who are missing out on the brilliance and greatness that was the ’90s!
The 90s were a great time to grow up, I can’t think of a better decade!!

jerry answers:

Oh I do miss the nineties:
When light up sneakers were COOL, when you rented videos, and not DVDs, when parties meant party hats, party poppers, pass the parcel, blowing out candles on your birthday cake and musical statues, fake tatoos, when you would do rolley polleys all over the field at playtime, when you slid down the stairs in your sleeping bag over and over again even when your bum got sore, when Crash Bandicoot was the best game, when wearing summer dresses, shorts and sandles to school was so exciting, when the playtimes during summer seemed to last for ages, when everyone had a pair of skipping ropes even the lads, when spice girls were THE BEST, hide-n-Seek after school till it got dark, hula hoops, telling scary stories at sleepovers, midnight feasts when you had to turn off all the lights and get the torches out at 9pm at night, the Nano Pets & Furbies, running through the sprinklers, remember when santa, the tooth fairy and the easter bunny were all so REAL!!, the first TAMAGOCHI”s and Yo-Yo”s, Pokemon! (Need I say more?), crying when Mufasa died in the Lion King, happy Meals where you chose a Barbie or a Hot Wheels car, getting the privilege to sit in the front seat of the car, those little Milk cartoons, with a straw, watching Saturday Morning Cartoons in your PJ’s still wrapped up in your duvet, the Teletubbies, Pinky and the brain, the adventures of Winnie the pooh, wearing your new shoes on the first day of school, getting a certificate in assembly, then when you rang up your grandparents to tell them you couldn’t say the word certificate, class trips to the zoo, LEGO, when Christmas was the most exciting time of year, when 50p seemed like a million, when you begged to go to McDonalds for tea, and when Toys R Us ruled!

My god, the 90′s are so memorable. I miss being an innocent little kid, not worrying about anything and not having a care in the world.

Please help! I need to pierce my infant daughter’s ears tonight and I am unsure as to how.?

I have an enormous problem- I took my 19 month old daughter Vanessa to the jewelry store in the mall today because they were offering $5.00 ear piercing. Vanessa is a pageant girl and truly is the most gifted, and the most stunning child anyone could ever lay their eyes on. In fact, we even had a poster made of her in her pageant dress which you can buy online for $19.00- For an additional $12.00 she will put her hand print on it as well- She’s smart, but can’t write just yet…Anyway…I took her in and the “piercing tech” refused to do her! I was shocked. This lady was VERY fat, and I think that she was jealous because God knows she never was a Vanessa. She had her kid with her too, who looked like a 3 year old troll. The kid was hideous. She looked so terrifying that when poor Vanny laid eyes on her, she screamed like a banshee. The poor kid could stop a clock. The tech claimed she would not pierce Vanny’s ears because she was too young, but we all know the truth…She was a jealous hag. Of course I demanded to speak with the manager, but he was out for the day. My problem now is that I have to get Vanny’s head shots tomorrow for the upcoming pageant season, and well, she simply cannot have the clip on earrings. that would be unheard of. I shall never forget when Candice Lemke put the clip on earrings on her daughter Charlottes ears back at the Little Miss Honey Bee pageant- All the Mothers were so outraged that a few of us waited for her to leave the pageant and pelted her car with slurpees, and baby food. It is simply a no no and I will not be a party to such a follie. I figured that I will just pierce her ears myself but I want to do it with the least amount of stress on poor Vanny- Last week she had a terribly bad allergic reaction to the spray tan and broke out in hives all over- Because of that… we had to tan her in the sun and she has a severe sunburn that is hurting her so I need to make this as painless as possible. So now I have the needle I got from the hotel sewing kit. It looks very thick though. Do I just jam it through? Slow, or fast? I heard you can numb the lobes first with ice%2

jerry answers:

I am sure you want your daughter’s piercing to be just right, so if you have never pierced anyone’s ears before, do not start with your daughter’s ears. Take her to another jewelry shop at the mall, even if you have to go to a different mall.

jerry answers:

Sure in that photo i reckon on the left hand side of that photo maybe a ring not a stud though…

John asks…

How long before lip piercings stop getting in the way?

Now, i have a pretty broad knowledge base of piercing info, but only the stuff you can learn from reading a book. Not from actual experience (except ears, stretching ears, and i suppose now, the actual piercing of lips).
So I was wondering, how long will it be before my piercings get in the way when i eat? They’re not horribly in the way, but i tend to catch them on the back of my teeth, and tug them pretty hard when i’m eating. It’s not particularly painful, but i feel like this is not a good thing for the piercing. How long before they won’t get in the way as much while i eat? Will it likely not happen till i get the shorter bars? I got them done Monday, so i have the longer bars they give you for the swelling.

jerry answers:

They’ll stop getting in the way when you get used to them, shorter bar or not. Just gotta get used to em.

Robert asks…

Suitable piercing for a 14 year old?

Well, ever since I was in sixth grade or so, I had a classmate, and she had her cartilage pierced, with one of those thick little hoops that are usually on your lobe, and I have been in love with that ever since. I’m just wondering, would that be appropriate for me? If I do, should I get them
In one or both ears? I want both. I’m going into high school (9th), and all throughout middle school I was in honors. (I got let go from that program because my learning slowed down to be average. I was getting 70s-90s and in my regulars math class I was getting 100s. I’d rather get good grades and be average than have poor grades and be regular.)

Or I was also considering a small metal stud in my nose? Left side, because my part is very asymmetrical and travels to the right side. What would you think if you saw a fourteen (15 in December) year old with a cartilage or nose piercing?

My mom an I are very close, but she still thinks of me as her baby, and doesn’t want me growing up. (no boyfriends until I’m 16. I’m okay with that though >.> I don’t think anyone likes me)

How can I show her I can still be her baby with another piercing? (I have my lobes pierced since I was 1)

I like the idea of piercings better than tattoos, since with a nose piercing, you can just take it out, and very likely you will not get any scar, and ear piercings are always nice. I also don’t think my mom would like the idea of me going to a tattoo parlor together the piercing, because of the atmosphere. So how can I soften her up to that, too?

Thank you :3

jerry answers:

I dont know if this helps, but i have 3 peircings in my cartalige in only my left ear. One at the very top, one on the very side, and then one in the middle between the 2. I think it looks cool because it is 3 in a row. To me, it is simple, goes with just about anything, and its not too hardcore.

Also i just turned 15.

William asks…

Taking CO2 Out of an Airsoft Gun?

I recently purchased a Crosman C11 airsoft pistol. I’m really enjoying it. The only problem. . . it’s CO2, which for me is a good thing and a bad thing. The good part, no cocking after every shot, more power, etc. The bad, I’m assuming I’ll have to use all the CO2 before I can put a new canister in (by then the power will be much weaker). When I was learning how to put it in, all I did was loosen the piercing lever. Carbon dioxide sprayed all over my hand, I had to quickly pull it away and point in a different direction before I got frostbite. I’m assuming after the CO2s been pierced, I can’t take it out or risk getting frostbite from CO2 spraying on me again. This is quite frustrating. Is there any way in hell I can take the CO2 canister out of my airsoft gun before all the gas is used up? Or am I stuck with that canister in there. If there is any way please give me specific directions. Thanks.

jerry answers:

Don’t loosen it to fast when there is still some in. Its like a shook up bottle of Pepsi. Just bleed is off till its all gone then take it off.
I’ve done this before.

Thomas asks…

Advice on the same day as getting snakebites pierced.?

Well, Im getting snakebites (for my 16th birthday:]) in December 19th (29 days from nowx]) And I learned that my friend’s 15′s party is going to be on the same day! :/ I was wondering If they’re going to be swollen on the same day. The party is 4 hours after and my lips are a little big. So yea, my main question is: How long would it take for the lips to swell after getting it pierced? And will I be able to eat?

Any Help is good, Thanks

How much does it hurt to get an industrial ear piercing?

I have my cartilage pierced on my left ear and that did not hurt at all but according to these youtube videos it hurts like hell lol and I was just wondering how bad it actually did hurt.

jerry answers:

Everybody is different. Most people feel something, but its not a devistating pain. If you were fine with your cartilage, it shouldn’t be intolerable, though it does hurt a little more.

John asks…

Tragus Piercing help!?!?!?

i want to get my tragus pierced on both ears, but i was wondering how much it hurts. i have seen videos of people getting it pierced and it looks VERY painful and i have a very low pain tolerance when it comes to needles and piercing.
so i was wondering if anyone can let me know if it hurt when they got it done and if you have a low pain tolerance as low as mine( i cryed a little when i got my tattoo on my foot) so if it can be compared to that yeah.

thanks
also is there some kind of “numbing” medicine i can use to make thm numb when i get them pierced ????

:)

jerry answers:

Well it probably will hurt lol ^-^ You can take some pain medication right before having it done.

Charles asks…

How can you sterilize piercing needles (hollow needles)?

I know it’s better to buy new needles, which I am going to do, but I’m just wondering how would you sterilize them and keep them clean? I’ve watched apprentice videos about it and I’ve searched it up, but I just don’t see how you could do it.

jerry answers:

I work in a bio lab, so I’d use an autoclave. If you have access to an autoclave, that’d be great!

I expect, though, that’s impossible for you. If you’re doing this at home, then thoroughly clean the needle inside and out so there’s nothing sticky on it, then put it in a pressure cooker. Heating under pressure gets it much hotter than boiling alone, which will kill off germs more effectively. When you remove it, put it in a sterile container (you can boil that in the pressure-cooker too) with a lid.

William asks…

how bad does a labret piercing hurt from a scale 1 to 10?

im thinking of getting one but i saw a video and it looked painful >.<

jerry answers:

Hey, i got mine done a few years ago, im 21.. It depends on your pain tolerence everyones different.. They do not use any thing to numb it, but i didnt feel anything, they use a clamp to hold it in place.. I didnt even kno it was done! But make sure u keep it clean after.. I also got my belly button done a year ago or so.. I didnt even feel that at all.. I was surprised, no pain nothing, they use a needle… I also have my tounge done, that was the one i was truly nervous about getting done and i thought i would never get done, but i did.. And it didnt hurt.. I just got incredibly dizzy afterward and had to lay down for about 5 minutes, plus it took me a few weeks to be able to talk right and about a week to eat, but to this day i would feel weird if i ever took my tounge ring out.. Anyway, i love it, make sure u go to a reputable place.

Mark asks…

how much does a septum piercing hurt ?

i want to get mine done.

i watched a couple of youtube videos of people getting it done
and they all looked like they were in so much pain.

iv got an unusually thin septum.. do you think it will hurt less ?

jerry answers:

Umm the septum hurts the worst in my opinion…
But if you really want it done go for it. :)

and it only really hurts for a split second.
And it’s a little sore for about 2 weeks.

But i got mine done last year and the soreness didn’t bother me. :)

umm i’m not sure about the thin thing.
It might. :) haha
